Why Join The PTSA?

The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Student Association is to benefit the students in the Hayfield Secondary School (HSS) community. There are other reasons, but that is the main one. PTSA members are involved in the HSS community. By being involved, parents, teachers and even students help themselves and the school as a whole. (Non-parent guardians should understand that they are included in everything I say about parents.)

Parent involvement, in particular, is crucial. Parents are the single most important influence in every student's success in school, and in life. Research shows that students with involved parents score better on tests, earn higher grades, are more likely to attend classes and graduate, and are more likely to go on to postsecondary education. When parents are involved in the school they show their children that school is important. We all talk the talk about the importance of education. Joining the PTSA lets you walk the walk, too.

Why join Hayfield Secondary's PTSA? Besides being the only organization that supports the entire school (Booster groups are important and worthwhile, but are focused on one area of HSS – the PTSA brings together all areas), PTSA members are:
  • Connected: There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
  • Networked: PTSA functions are opportunities to meet other parents, school administrators, teachers, and students, building rapport and discussing the issues that are on your mind. PTSA meetings are attended by the Principal and student government leaders you can share ideas, concerns, and experiences with them.
  • Heard: PTSA is a good way to more effectively bring about change in the HSS experience.
So, why join the PTSA? Because it makes the entire HSS community better, starting with you and what’s most important to you. Join today!

Hayfield Secondary PTSA President
