HawkConnect: Writing Enthusiasts Needed to Help Seniors Soar Beyond HSS

posted Oct 14, 2011, 9:38 AM by HSS PTSA Webmaster
What comes after high school? Many Hayfield seniors want to know. The answer could be college, a university or technical school, an apprenticeship, the military or other employment. While the destination may vary, the path will always include applications and essays. If you are a writer, journalist or have experience with English composition, consider helping our graduating seniors as a member of HawkConnect.

HawkConnect is a team of volunteer “experts” – including parents, guardians and Hayfield alums – from the Hayfield community who “connect” with students to help them prepare for life beyond Hayfield Secondary. This first opportunity will provide students with one-on-one and small-group assistance through the Career Center. We are looking for writing enthusiasts to help during these sessions:
  • Monday, Oct. 24 – College essays/personal statements
  • Thursday, Nov. 17 – College applications
  • Monday, Dec. 5 – Scholarship search.
Each session will take place during Hawk Time A - 8:54 a.m. – 9:33 a.m., and Hawk Time B - 9:39 a.m. – 10:18 a.m., in the Career Center. Students will register through Family Connection. If you have any questions and/or you’re interested in participating as a member of HawkConnect, please contact Iris Rivera, Career Center Specialist, iris.rivera@fcps.edu, or Liz Dunn, PTSA President, president@hssptsa.org. HawkConnect is sponsored by the Hayfield Secondary PTSA --
and we look forward to connecting with you!
